Community Participation Can Help Us Win War Against COVID-19: BMC Commissioner

Bhubaneswar: When the entire world is fiercely fighting the war against COVID-19 pandemic, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is not let behind.

“Only administration and police force is not adequate for the fight against COVID-19,” said BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary, adding “we need mental strength and  the same is seen among the communities and resident citizens of the Temple City. We need to win over the COVID-19 war with support from all.”

Participating in a special community meeting today BMC Commissioner, Twin City police commissioner, senior administrative and police officials urged the community leaders from across the city to come forward and join the intensive war so that the city can emerge as a winner in the fight. In two administrative zones of BMC, North Zone and South West Zone saw these community-based meetings today.

Two community sensitisation meetings were held today to orient RWAs, Puja Committe members, RWAs and Sr Citizen associations at Jayadevbihar Sector 6 UP School. About 25 representatives from Jayadevbihar Sanskrutika Unnayan Parisad, N5 Development Council, Rameswar Baristha Nagarika Sangha and Jagannatha Baristha Nagarika Sangha participated in the programme.

Discussion held on cooperation of neighbour for a humanitarian behaviour to people in quarantine. Helping them getting essential commodities like grocery, vegetables and medicines.

BMC Commissioner urged the participants not to show stigmatised behaviour to any family undergoing quarantine. Such meetings are quite essential and it will be organised across the city.
