Birmingham: On Day 7 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games, Murali Sreeshankar won a silver medal in the men’s long jump final while para power-lifter Sudhir won gold with a Games record mark of 134.5 points.
India boxers Amit Panghal, Jaismine Lamboriya, and Sagar Ahlawat hogged the limelight as they progressed to the semi-finals, assuring India of a medal.
The men’s hockey team defeated Wales to progress to the last four stage. Sprinter Hima Das also made it to the semi-finals of the women’s 200m race. Shuttlers PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth also progressed to pre-quarterfinals at the ongoing mega event.
On Day 8 of CWG 2022, all eyes will be on the Indian wrestlers with focus on Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia while the Indian women’s hockey team will be up against Australia in the semi-final round.
