Commissionerate Police seize spurious liquor in city, 2 held
Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police (CP) on Tuesday detained two persons from Mancheswar in Bhubaneswar and seized 187 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) and Rs 18,600, in cash from their possession.
Following the directions of the CP to issue warrants and arrest habitual offenders, The Quick Action Team (QAT) conducted a raid in the Mancheswar area and nabbed the duo.
Earlier, in a meeting held on September 23, the CP launched a special drive to conduct raids in all the police limits in the twin city of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar aiming to maintain law and order during the festive season. Besides, the drive also includes the execution of non-bailable warrants and the prosecution of habitual offenders.
According to information, a total of 143 non-bailable warrants (NBWs) including 64 NBWs were executed and 79 NBWs were disposed and 53 habitual offenders were booked under Central Government Act Section 110 in the Code Of Criminal Procedure (110 CrPC).
It is learned that the drive will be in action until the conclusion of Durga Puja.
