Coal Transport Hit After Jharsuguda Truck Owners Stage Protest

Jharsuguda: Coal transport service was badly affected in Bandhabahal area on NH 49 of Jharsuguda district today following a protest by Jharsuguda truck owners demanding adequate loads of coal transportation in their trucks.

According to reports, hundreds of truck owners who have engaged their vehicles at various coal mines in the area joined strike today morning and stopped coal-laden trucks near H.Katapalli on NH 49. It is alleged that Bandhabahal Truck Owners are provided adequate loads of coal consignments while the Jharsuguda Truck Owners’ Association is deprived of it.

“Inadequate production of coal in Lakhanpur mines and after transportation of coal through trains by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has badly affected the business. The strike will continue till our demand is met,” said a truck owner.

Later, Jharsuguda SDPO reached the spot and pacified the angry truck owners. Police personnel have been reportedly deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation.
