Ganjam: A coal-laden freight train caught fire near Ganjam railway station today, railway officials said. No casualties were reported.
According to sources, the fire was triggered in a wagon and spread of the train while the train was on its way to Palasa from Talcher. At least two wagons of the train were caught in the flames.
Reportedly, the manager of the railway station spotted smoke emanating from the train and immediately alerted the fire service department.
Fire tenders from Chattrapur rushed to the spot and doused the flames. The exact reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, sources said.
