Coal-laden goods train catches fire near Rayagada
Rayagada: A coal-laden goods train caught fire near Singapur Road Railway station in Rayagada district Thursday evening. No one was hurt in the incident, railway officials said.
According to sources, thick smoke was spotted emanating from the wagons of the goods train which was en route from Vishakhapatnam. As many as 10 bogies of the train caught fire.
The train was halted at around 10 kms away from Singapur Road Railway station where the loco pilot and guard sought help from the Rayagada fire services department. Immediately, two fire tenders were pressed in to douse the flames, it was learned.
While the exact reason behind the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained, fire services personnel have reportedly doused the flames, sources said.
