Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday urged people of the State to show solidarity with Covid warriors by singing ‘Bande Utkala Janani’, at 5:30 PM on May 30 (Saturday).
The Odisha CM said “I request all Odias, irrespective of where you are staying, to sing Bande Utkala Janani at 5.30 PM on May 30 by maintaining social distancing. The initiative aims at encouraging COVID19- warriors and respecting their dedication and sacrifices.“
The CM also expressed his gratitude to the people of Odisha for cooperating with the Government in the fight against coronavirus.
The move assumes significance during this COVID-19 pandemic and at the same time will motivate the frontline workers including doctors, nurses, people’s representatives and others who are now playing a crucial role in the ongoing fight against coronavirus in the State, he stated.
He further added that Bande Utkala Janani is an Odia patriotic poem. This song was used as a weapon by the Utkal Sammilani to emancipate Odisha. The poem envisages a Utkala who maintains her self-respect and dignity from a position of confidence and strength rather than insecurity and fear.
Coming days will be more challenging for us. This song is an inspiration and will motivate us fight up the upcoming challenges, the CM concluded.
