Clerk Held For Taking Bribe In Bhubaneswar


Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Sunday caught a clerk working at the office of Deputy Manager Electric Sub-Station, CESU, on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000. The accused officer has been identified as Malaya Kumar Pattnaik.

According to reports, Pattnaik had demanded Rs 1000 from one Murari Prakash Sahoo to adjust the bill amount of Rs 1,888. Following this, Murari approached the anti-corruption wing and lodged a complaint.

Based on the complaint, the officials of the Vigilance department reached the office and caught the clerk red-handed while accepting the gratification.

A case (2/20) has been registered against the accused clerk under relevant Sections of the IPC, reports added.
