Puri: Chief Justice of India D. Y. Chandrachud today visited Puri Srimandir and offered prayers at the shrine.
The CJI came to the State on a two-day tour. Soon after landing at Bhubaneswar airport, he drove straight to Puri.
Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena, Puri District Collector Samarth Verma, Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Ranjan Kumar Das and Puri SP K. Vishal Singh accorded him warm welcome and accompanied him to the shrine.
Justice Rajesh Bindal of the Supreme Court and Chief Justice of Uttarakhand Bipin Sanghi also visited the temple. Both of them were welcomed by the Temple Administration and were presented with the chariot wood of Shri Jagannath, chariot rope and Nirmalya along with a portrait of Lord Jagannath.
According to sources, the Chief Justice of India will attend the National Conclave on Digitization Paperless Court to be held at the Judicial Academy in Cuttack on Saturday.
The conference is scheduled to be attended by judges of various high courts across the country.
