Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy on Sunday apprised him of the arrangement at the state control room here set up for Odias stranded outside the state.
The state control room has been equipped with over 20 lines. The special control room will assist migrant labourers, students, pilgrims and tourists stranded at different states following the nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Senior administrative officers have been posted as nodal officers to man affairs of different states. The nodal officers will be attached to the union home ministry’s control room. The telephone number of the state control room is 0674-2392115. The callers to the number will be given assistance by contacting the concerned states in which they are stranded.
The chief secretary visited the state control room on Sunday evening and took stock of the situation. During his visit Principal secretary, home, Sanjiv Chopra, Covid-19 special secretary Vishal Dev and special secretary home, Amitabh Thakur were also present at the control room. Tripathy discussed with the officials about the smooth management of the control room.
Tripathy told the media that the control room is now getting calls from Odias stranded in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Gujarat. The state government has been taking adequate steps to redress the suffering of Odias stranded in these states, he added.
