Jharsuguda: A four-member team of Chhattisgarh Police today arrived in Odisha’s Brajrajnagar and intensified probe by visiting the residence of arrested ex-MLA Anup Sai, prime accused in the sensational double murder of a woman and her minor daughter in 2016.
The police team also visited Lamitibahal SBI branch and UCO bank, where Sai have accounts, for the examination of monetary transactions, which could play a crucial role in gathering more evidence.
Besides, notices have been served to some persons including Sai’s nephew and deceased Kalpana’s sister Rina Das to appear in person at the police station tomorrow.
Apart from former MLA of Brajrajnagar, Anup Sai & his car driver Burdhan Toppo, who were arrested last week, the involvement of another person is suspected, informed Raigarh SP Santosh Singh.
“While a Bolero used to mow down the bodies of Kalpana and her 14-year-old daughter Babli to destroy their identity, it is now suspected that an Innova car was also used in the criminal act,” added SP Singh.
The Raigarh SP further informed that a detailed investigation is underway, but the accused duo- Anup and Burdhan- are not cooperating with the probe. “They will be brought on remand for more interrogation, and if necessary they will be brought to Odisha,” he said.
It may be mentioned here that the police yesterday reconstructed the crime scene with the help of Sai’s driver Toppo at the spot. During the crime scene recreation, it was seen that instead of using a Bolero car, the team used an Innova car to run over the dummy bodies.
On the other hand, Chhattisgarh Police last night lifted Sai’s brother-in-law Rajk Kishore Deo from Gochhara village in Kuchinda in this connection. It is also learned that the police could again similar raids very soon.
