Chandan Yatra Of Lord Lingaraj To Be Held Sans Devotees

Bhubaneswar: In view of surge in Covid-19 cases, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday ordered that the Chandan Yatra of Lord Lingaraj will be held without participation of devotees.

Chandan Yatra will begin from May 15, on the day of Akshaya Tritiya.

As per the order only 15 servitors will be allowed to conduct the festival and the list of the servitors will be shared by the temple authority to BMC and they need to have negative RT-PCR test results of within 48 hours.

The temple authorities have also been asked to to coordinate with BMC for sanitization of boats before putting to its use.

“All servitors during the festival will have to wear mask appropriately at all times and social distancing of six feet has to be maintained at all times by all servitors,” said the BMC.
