Centre is well aware of farmers’ cause, says Defence Minister

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said there is no question of being insensitive towards farmers as they are “annadatas”.

On farmers being termed as ‘Naxals’ and ‘Khalistanis’, the Defence Minister said they should not be branded as such.

Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is deeply disturbed over farmers’ stir.

The Defence Minister said Sikh brothers have always protected the culture of India and added that their contribution will always be remembered for protecting the country’s dignity and self-respect.

He said the Centre has repeatedly indicated that Minimum Support Price will continue.

The Defence Minister said that the government will take every possible measures to address the issues of farmers and added that the Centre is working to mitigate the miseries of marginalised sections of the society.
