Padampur: Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar on Sunday lambasted Odisha government for holding up installment of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) even though the Centre has already released the funds.
Addressing a political rally at by-poll bound Padampur, Tomar alleged that BJD-led Odisha government is trying to divert attention from the main issue by blaming Centre over the crop insurance money.
“Funds for Fasal Bima Yojana has already been released. It is the State government which should float bids for the implementation of the scheme. The State’s responsibility is to make survey of crop loss and demanded compensation accordingly,” Tomar said while pitching for vote for party candidate Pradip Purohit.
He said that Centre extended financial assistance of Rs6000 for each farmer, under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. The state government is blaming the Centre by sitting on the funds. Time has come to pressurize the government to release funds, he maintained.
“Had BJP ruled in Odisha and with double engine government in place, such negligence would not have happened,” the minister rued.
Urging people to vote for Pradip Purohit who can only struggle for the rights of common men, Tomar said his victory would give an indication of next general elections.
