New Delhi: Foreign Minister S Jaishankar presided over an all-party meeting on Tuesday to address the collapse of Sheikh Hasina’s government in Bangladesh, which has been rocked by violent demonstrations.
Mr. Jaishankar updated the Members of Parliament on the current situation in Bangladesh.
Yesterday, Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country as massive protests called for her departure.
Last evening, Ms Hasina arrived at the Hindon Air Force base located in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, about 30km from Delhi. She was welcomed by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has discussed the unrest in Bangladesh with S Jaishankar, where the death toll has exceeded 300. It remains unclear whether Mr. Modi will have a meeting with Mrs. Hasina.
