Celebrated fashion designer Wendell Rodricks passes away at 59


Goa: Celebrated fashion designer and activist Wendell Rodricks passed away on Wednesday at his Goa home. He was 59 years old.

Rodricks, known for his minimalism in his fashion, was born in 1960. He was a vocal activist of gay rights and environmental issues.

Wendell Rodricks launched his own fashion brand in 1989 and announced his retirement from his label in 2016, which he then handed over to his long-time associate Schulen Fernandes. In the fashion world, Wendell Rodricks is best known for bringing forth the concept of resort wear to the limelight and for advocating eco-friendly fashion.

Goa state minister Vishwajit Rane wrote on Twitter:

Fondest memories of Wendell Rodricks were shared by the several celebs, including Malaika Arora and Waluscha De Sousa, who closely worked with the designer.
