CCI PMG Projects In Odisha Make Headway; Chief Secy Asks To Keep Pace With Timeline

Bhubaneswar: The Cabinet Committee Investment (CCI) projects monitored under the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) Government of India have made significant progress in Odisha.

This was known from the CCI PMG Meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra in Lokseva Bhawan Conference hall today wherein Principal Secretary Industry Hemant Kumar Sharma and Principal Secretary Commerce and Transport Madhusudan Padhi presented updates of the projects and outlined the issues for discussion.

The Chief Secretary resolved the ground-level issues that came up on the way of the expeditious implementation of the projects through detail discussion with the project proponents, departmental officers and collectors of the concerned districts. Mohapatra directed the project proponents to complete the projects in time as all the issues raised by them were resolved promptly.

He added, “this joint exercise has been very fruitful and there has been substantial progress in implementation of the projects”. Mohapatra also directed the project proponents and concerned officials to keep pace with timelines set against different phases of the projects.

The committee reviewed the progress of 25 major projects envisaging a total investment of around Rs.73,362  cr. These included sixteen railway projects, two national highway projects, two coal mining projects of MCL, one STTP project of NTPC, one refinery and crude oil pipe line project of IOCL, two gas pipe line projects of GAIL, and, one project of Dalmia cement. Around 95 major and minor issues relating to forest clearance, distribution of compensatory awards, wild life clearance, issue of the right of way certificate, advance possession of land, removal of encroachment, environmental clearance, site-specific wild life plan etc were discussed and resolved. Chief Secretary Sri Mohapatra set timelines against different tasks of the projects.

Development Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena, Additional Chief Secretary Forest and Environment Dr Mona Sharma, Principal Secretary Industry Hemant Kumar Sharma, Principal Secretary Commerce and Transport Madhusudan Padhi along with Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, senior officers from concerned departments and project proponents participated in the discussion. The collectors and district officials participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
