CBI books HAL senior manager, others for financial irregularities


New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against a senior manager (finance) and an assistant (Finance/Accounts) of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Engine Division, Koraput, and other private individuals in connection with financial irregularities.

A case under Sections 120 B r/w 409, 420, 467, 468 & 471 of IPC and Section 13(1)(a) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) was registered against Senior Manager Bhaben Mitra, Assistant Manager Abinash Kumar and job contract labour Subhashree Das, all from HAL Engine Division, Koraput for misappropriation of money to the tune of Rs 5 crore.

Besides, private individuals, Jayaram Garada, Bipra Charana Maharana, Jisudan Khosla, Urdhab Khosla and Sadananda Nayak, all residents of Koraput district, have also been booked by the investigating agency following the complaint of the HAL authorities.

It was alleged that the accused persons entered into a criminal conspiracy among themselves and in pursuance thereof, the public servants of HAL Engine Division, Koraput (Odisha) & unknown officials of HAL had misappropriated an amount of Rs.5,01, 74, 906/-(approx) of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (a Central Public Sector Enterprise) by fraudulently transferring the said amount to the accounts of private contractors and unknown others without any supporting documents during the period between January, 2018 to August, 2018.

Searches were conducted at the office/residential premises of accused persons which led to the recovery of incriminating documents/articles. Further investigation is in progress into the case.
