CBI arrests intelligence officer, lawyer in bribery case


New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Intelligence Officer of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and an advocate in Kolkata in connection with an alleged bribery case.

The case was registered on a complaint alleging that the Intelligence Officer has demanded Rs 2 lakh as bribe and has agreed to accept Rs 50,000 for not implicating the complainant in an NCB case.

After necessary verification, CBI laid a trap and caught the advocate for demanding and accepting the bribe on behalf of the said Intelligence Officer of NCB. The Intelligence Officer was also arrested.

Searches were conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused.

Both the arrested accused are being produced today before the Designated Court at Kolkata.
