Cargo Theft Racket Busted: 54 MT Stolen LAM Coke Seized, 10 Held

Cuttack: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch today busted a cargo theft racket with the seizure of 54 Metric tons of Low Ash Metallurgical (LAM) coke and arrest of 10 persons.

Based on reliable inputs regarding organised cargo theft and illegal unloading of costly materials/cargo from interstate transport vehicles by miscreants by the side of NH-55, the STF on Saturday conducted a raid at Baba Dhabaleswar Koila Dipu in the district.

A total of eight trucks loaded with LAM coke were found at the spot, from where voluminous LAM coke was unloaded and the same was found to have been loaded in other trucks for the purpose of disposal for their illegal pecuniary benefit.

Heap of such illegally unloaded Lam Coke weighing about 32 Metric tons along with nine trucks loaded Lam Cokes, one JCB, some resealing and repackaging materials along with other incriminating materials were
seized from the culprits at the spot.

Total 54 Metric tons of Lam Coke were found to have been stolen and kept stored by the culprits illegally for the purpose of sale which would be worth of Rs 13,50,000/-.

A Case (4/21) was registered against the accused persons under Sections 379/411/120 (B) of IPC and were forwarded to court.
