Carcasses of 30 migratory birds recovered, 2 held


Khurda: The wildlife department officials on Monday recovered carcasses of 30 migratory birds from Balipatapur and Abhirampur areas in Chilika.

The two poachers involved in the crime have also been arrested by wildlife department officials. The accused were identified as Babuli Pradhan of Gopinathpur and Gopinath Parida of Abhimanpur.

Acting on a tip-off about the illegal poaching, the forest officials conducted a raid and apprehended the accused persons. During the raid, the officials seized carcasses of 30 migratory birds of the cormorant species. Besides, a motorcycle was also seized.

A case has been registered against the accused persons under relevant Sections of the IPC and further investigation into the matter is underway.
