CAA violence: Home Minister assured all help, says Delhi CM

New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday that Home Minister Amit Shah assured him of all help to ensure that peace returns to the city.

When reporters asked if Army will be called in to contain situation, Kejriwal said: “If it is needed then I hope…But right now the action is being taken by police…We’ve been assured (during the meeting with the Home Minister) that an adequate number of police personnel will be deployed as required.

A report of Uttar Pradesh State Intelligence has alleged that the Popular Front of India (PFI) and Bhim Army are the key suspects behind the recent CAA violence in Aligarh and Delhi. The report, made on the basis of Call Detail Records (CDRs), noted that incidents of violence in Delhi’s northeast district have been linked with simultaneous violent protests in Aligarh.
