Sambalpur/Rengali: Four unidentified persons allegedly kidnapped a 62-year-old businessman after putting him at gunpoint near Sason along the Sambalpur-Jharsuguda highway on Friday. The victim has been identified as Naresh Agarwal, owner of Steel & Steels at Sambalpur’s Remed area.
According to latest reports, Sambalpur SP, Dr. Kanwar Vishal Singh, has formed five squads and a search operation is underway to trace the abducted businessman.
Police said the kidnappers used a white four-wheeler car sans number plate to accomplish their kidnapping mission.
As per reports, Agarwal, this afternoon, had gone to Sason from his residence in Remed and near Sason by-pass, the driver alighted from the vehicle for some work. In the meantime, four miscreants arrived at the spot on a white car having no number plate, overpowered Agarwal by putting him at gunpoint and sped away. The kidnappers had also punctured the front tyres of Agarwal’s car before fleeing the spot.
On getting information from the car driver, the businessman’s son Dipak Kumar Agarwal lodged a written complaint with Sason police.
Following the complaint, Sambalpur SP reached the spot and launched a probe. At present, the car driver is being questioned in detail about the alleged abduction. Besides, the 5 squads are in action to trace the abducted businessman.
As per latest reports, the police are verifying the route- Sambalpur or Jharsuguda- taken by the kidnappers after the abduction. The cops are also verifying the list of vehicles that passed through the Rengali toll gate.
