Bhubaneswar: With the escalating prices of fuel, the bus fares across all categories have increased once again in the state today under the automatic fare adjustment mechanism.
This was informed by the secretary of private bus owners’ association, Debendra Sahoo.
According to a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport Department, the fares of ordinary and express buses have been increased by two paise per km, while that of deluxe and AC deluxe buses will be dearer by four paise per km.
While fares of Ordinary & Express category buses have been increased by 2 paise per KM, fares of Deluxe & AC Deluxe buses enhanced by 4 paise per KM, said the secretary of private bus owners’ association.
The fare for the ordinary bus will now be 72 as against 70 paise/km while that for express bus fare will be 75 paise/km instead of 73 paise/km.
Besides, deluxe category buses will now charge Rs 1.05 as against Rs 1,01 per km while passengers travelling in AC deluxe buses will have to pay Rs 1.27 per km as against Rs 1.23 per km.
Earlier, on June 16, the ordinary bus fares was hiked from 67 paise/km to 70 paise/km while fares of Express buses increased from 70 paisa per km to 73 paisa per km. The fares for deluxe buses increased from 95 paisa to Rs 1.01 per km and of AC Deluxe buses from Rs 1.17 per km to Rs 1.23 per km.
