Seoul: Samsung on Wednesday held its latest Unpacked live event, at which it unveiled five devices, and also called in celebrity guests, including the K-pop group BTS.
The hugely popular band will no doubt influence its army of fans to consider Samsung devices through the endorsement deal.
Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook briefly popped up in a prerecorded video, where they snapped some selfies and enjoyed the Z Fold 2’s “mystic bronze” color.
Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S7 and S7 Plus, Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Buds Live earbuds with active noise canceling and shared listening.
The band previously endorsed LG before coming out with limited-edition BTS versions of Samsung’s flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy Buds Plus earphones.
Here are the products announced at the event:
– Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. They are the latest in Samsung’s Note line, and both feature AMOLED displays. The two start at $999 and $1,299, respectively.
– The Galaxy Z Fold 2, a new smartphone which features a 7.7-inch screen that folds at multiple angles. More will be announced about the Z Fold 2 on September 1, Samsung said.
-The Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+, which are the first two 5G tablets available in the United States. They sell for $650 and $850, respectively.
– The Galaxy Watch 3 is Samsung’s latest rival to the Apple Watch, the undisputed leader in that wearable category. The Watch 3 can take ECG and blood pressure readings, although only the ECG is approved in the United States. It comes with a starting price of $400. BTS
