Malkangiri: Border Security Force (BSF) jawans recovered an improvised explosive device in the foothills of Bejangiwada village of the Malkangiri district on Saturday.

As many as four bags of Gelatin sticks were also recovered from a rocky crevice near Tekguda village under Kalimela police station of the district.

Based on a specific input, BSF jawans launched a joint operation with Malkangiri police. While searching the area in the foothills of Bejangiwada, they found a tiffin IED and four bags of Gelatin sticks with total number of 736 Gelatins weighing around 89 kg from the spot.

“The effort in the region would suddenly demotivate the Maoist sympathizers and enhance public support for the police forces. Kalimela area has been a Maoist hotbed and Bejangiwada used to be the hideout of the Red Ultra and their sympathizers. Maoists used to hide IEDs, explosives and other related materials in the area,” read a statement issued by BSF.
