London: Britain has postponed further easing of lockdown restrictions in this weekend amid concerns over rise in coronavirus cases.
There will be restrictions on wedding receptions which will be up to 30 people and face coverings will be mandatory in more indoor settings such as cinemas and theaters.
People attending places of worship will also be required to wear face coverings.
England’s chief medical officer, Prof Chris Whitty, warned that it might not be possible to ease the lockdown any further.
The prime minister said progress against coronavirus continues, with the daily and weekly number of deaths falling, but warned that some European countries are “struggling” to control it.
He urged people to abide by coronavirus norms and follow the rules relating to hand washing , covering of faces and maintaining social distancing.
