Bangiriposi: The tourism department has allegedly sidelined Brahman Kund here in Mayurbhanj district although it is potential enough to attract perspective tourists.
This Brahman Kund enjoys nature’s bounty as water cascades down from atop. Shoal of fish found in the vast reservoir-like water body delight the visiting tourists.
This Brahman Kund has deities on the hillock from where crystal clear waterfalls into the reservoir beneath. It is alleged that the district administration is yet to initiate measures for beautification of the tourist spot.
Reports said the former District Collector Surendra Kumar Meena had directed the ex-Sub-Collector Mohammed Abdul Aktar for taking measures for undertaking a beautification drive of the tourist spot in the district.
The ITDA has allocated Rs 20 lakh for such beautification project, but lack of coordination between the local forest wing and the tourism the department has put the project in backburner.
Environmentalists and nature lovers have urged the district administration as well as the tourism department to take up measures immediately for attracting tourists from home and abroad.
