Bhubaneswar: A book titled “Contemporary Gender Discourse: Issues and Contestations” has been released in the Orientation Programme in Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.
The book is jointly authored by Dr Aditya Keshari Mishra, Assistant Professor in Sociology, Central University of Orissa, Koraput and Dr Sagarika Mishra, Assistant Professor and HoD in Sociology, V D Autonomous College, Koraput.
The Orientation Programme on Combating Violence against Women/Girls for College/University Teachers has been organised by the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD), Gowhati in collaboration with the School of Women’s Studies and the Department of Sociology, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.
The book has been released by eminent sociologist and Director of School of Women’s Studies, Utkal University Prof. Navaneeta Rath, Former SP Police Branch/Biju Patnaik State Police Academy/Police Advisor to WCD/regular instructor at Odisha Judicial Academy R. K. Dash, and Secretary AIINA, Smt. Sneha Mishra.
Highlighting the relevance of the book, Prof. Rath stated that in an Orientation Programme on combating violence against women, the publication and release of the book on gender studies is indeed pertinent and laudable. Faculty members from universities and colleges of the state of Odisha are participants in the programme.
