Bomb Threat Message Inside Flight At Silchar Airport
Guwahati: Panic gripped at Silchar airport here on Tuesday after a piece of paper with a bomb menace message was discovered on a SpiceJet aircraft.
According to reports, the flight carrying 109 passengers from Guwahati landed on Silchar airport and was to take-off for Delhi with 66 passengers. The aircraft was accredited for departure after a radical search by safety officers, said the airport authority of India in a statement.
A piece of paper with a threat message written on it was found at the rear end of the SpiceJet aircraft, which had arrived at the Silchar airport from Guwahati with 109 passengers on board at 1.58 pm.
“A bomb threat on flight number SG-8152 was detected at 1415 hrs at Silchar Airport on 16 March 2021. The Flt SG 8152 arrived at Silchar Airport from Guwahati and touchdown was at 1358 hrs. Considering the threat, all agencies were alerted,” said the airport body, adding the aircraft was taken to a distant bay and all passenger movement was halted as precaution.
“Immediately passengers had been stopped from exiting the arrival lounge. Immediately the BTD group at Silchar Airport was activated, the Assam Police was additionally knowledgeable. The state authorities, the involved SP additionally organized the safety check-up,” it stated.
The flight was finally cleared for takeoff at 9 pm, the statement added.
PK Gorai, the director of Silchar airport, said all mandatory checks were carried out and flight was found to be safe for takeoff.
