Kantabanji: Police on Tuesday claimed to have cracked the murder mystery of a young newspaper distributor in Kantabanjhi area in Bolangir district. Five persons were arrested in this connection.
According to police, the body of a youth, identified as Kamal Bagh (22) was recovered from an abandoned water pit on November 17.
During the investigation, it was ascertained that Bagh had been to his lover’s house on November 11. Then he was caught by her family members who murdered him and dumped the body in an abandoned water pit located at the back of the Radhaswami Satsang Bhawan in the district.
“A special police team has been formed under Kantabanjhi SDPO Saroj Mohapatra which later detained the girl’s father Duryo Suna, mother Pushpa Suna, younger brother Gagan Suna, uncle Raghunath Suna and another relative Rajan Suna on suspicion,” said Bolangir SP Madkar Sandeep Sampat at a press conference here.
All the accused were taken into custody after confessing to the crime during the interrogation. A case (266/19) has been registered against the accused persons under relevant Sections of the IPC and forwarded to court.
