Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has collected penalties of Rs 18 lakhs from people for violating mask and social distancing rules enforced to stem the spread of Covid-19.
Reportedly, BMC along with the squads of the three zones and central squad have collected fine Rs 18 lakhs from the COVID-19 norms violators.
From April 1st till now, the squads raided several places in the city and collected fines of Rs 6, 95,650. Meanwhile, North zone squad collected penalty of Rs 543000 from the people of the area for violating covid norms.
Likewise, the west and south zone squad penalized around Rs 5, 38,900, and the central squad collected penalties of Rs 2.5 lakhs. The total fine amount till date stood at Rs 18 lakhs.
