Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal President and LoP Naveen Patnaik today lambasted the BJP-led government in Odisha for playing with the feelings and faith of mothers and said, “Don’t play with common people’s beliefs. Our mothers are very aware. They will answer it. Biju Mahila Janata Dal workers are determinedly moving ahead to lift the curtain from the lies of the BJP.
LoP Patnaik said this while attending a meeting of the Biju Mahila Janata Dal’s organisational workers at Sankha Bhawan, BJD’s state HQs.
Biju Janata Dal is always with mothers. Working for mothers and will continue to do so. 70 lakh women have been empowered. Our Mission Shakti program has brought together 70 lakh mothers and empowered them to become entrepreneurs from SHGs. Mothers can take an active part in development today, Patnaik said.
“Crimes against women are on the rise across the country. Crime against women is a crime against God. In our culture, we worship mothers as goddesses. It should be stopped at any cost,” Naveen emphasized.
“Biju Mahila Janata Dal workers should always extend support to the women in distress and instil courage in them to face the challenges. In this context, our collective efforts will create a safe world for our girls,” Patnaik, the Leader of the Opposition, hoped.
“It is expected that finally, the reservation for women may come in Lok Sabha and Assembly. So we should be fully prepared and focus our membership drive on enrolling more and more women “I will actively give more responsibility to women in the party organization,” said the BJD Supremo.
Targeting the BJP directly, the opposition party leader said that ‘lies’ are the BJP’s biggest identity. “You know very well about BJP’s lies whether it is Subhadra Yojana or 300 units of free electricity. They said that they would pay Rs 50,000 in two years. Now, they say they will pay in five years and only Rs 5,000 in 6 months.
“Earlier, they promised for inclusion of all women under the Subhadra Scheme but now a handful will get the benefits. In the last elections, the BJP’s top leaders came from all over the country and spoke a lot but in vain. BJP should not play with the faith of women,” LoP Naveen Patnaik said and added that BJD has always been and will be the voice of mothers.
In the training camp, senior leaders of the BJD women’s wing, workers in charge of the organization, women presidents and block presidents of various districts were present. During the meeting, discussions were held on strengthening the organization of the party.
The Biju Mahila Janata Dal will take it to the grassroots level for not fulfilling the promises made by the BJP during the election.
Rajya Sabha MP Sulta Deo, who was present in the meeting, said that the issue of non-fulfilment of promises in Subhadra Yojana will be taken to the people. Senior MLAs of BJD attended the camp and gave their comments.
It has been revealed in the meeting that the BJD is gearing up to monitor the functioning of the BJP mainly during the payment of MSP, Pension, and Subhadra assistance.
