Biraja Temple Reopens Amid Strict COVID-19 Safety Protocols


Jajpur: The Biraja Temple in Jajpur reopened from today after more than nine months. The entry and darshan will be strictly regulated in view of the continuing pandemic.

However, the temple will remain closed from January 1 to 3 to avoid a large congregation of devotees.

It is worth mentioning, the temple was closed for the past nine months due to the restrictions induced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Biraja Temple, or Birija Kshetra, is a historic Hindu temple located in Jajpur. The present temple was built during the 13th century. The principal idol is Devi Durga, who is worshiped as Viraja, and the temple gave Jajpur the nicknames “Viraja Kshetra” and “Biraja Peetha”.
