As many as six people went missing after a boat capsized in the Ganga river near Umanath Ganga Ghat in Bihar’s Gosaimath on Sunday. A search operation was on at the time of last update of this report.
According to Barh Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Shubham Kumar, the boat was carrying 17 people, some of whom managed to swim to safety.
This unfortunate incident occurred on the day when people from all over the country came to Ganga ghats to take a dip on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra to show reverence to the holy river.
Upon receiving the news of the incident, authorities promptly dispatched a search and rescue team to the location.
