Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Railway station of Khurda road division has been certified as “Eat Right Station” for providing high-quality, nutritious food to passengers.
The ‘Eat Right Station Certification’ was the part of the ‘Eat Right India’ movement. It is a large-scale effort made by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to transform food system in India with an aim to ensure safe, healthy and sustainable food for all Indians. The Eat Right India adopts regulatory, capacity building, collaborative and empowerment approaches in ensuring that the food available is suitable for people as well as for planet.
The Certificate was awarded after the conclusion of FSSAI empanelled Third Party Audit Agency with ratings from 1 to 5. Bhubaneswar station achieved a 4-star rating. The 4-star rating indicates Exemplary efforts made by the Railway authorities at Bhubaneswar station in ensuring that safe and hygienic food is available to Railway passengers. All the catering stalls at Bhubaneswar Railway station are provided with Food license certificate and the vendors are having medical fitness certificate.
Today, in a function at Bhubaneswar Railway station, the certificate was handed over to Rinkesh Roy, Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road Division, by Miss Yamini Sarangi, Commissioner of Food safety, Govt. of Odisha. Speaking on the occasion, Rinkesh Roy said that it is a honor for the Khurda Road division and it also makes us more responsible to maintain this standard of hygienic and food quality for our valued passengers in future at Bhubaneswar station. He also said that in the next step, efforts were made for Puri, Cuttack other important stations of the division to include in “EAT RIGHT STATION” category. Dr. P.K. Mohapatra, Director Food safety, BGS Rao, Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS), Khurda road, Amitesh Anand, Sr.Divisional Commercial Manager, Khurda Road are present on the occasion.
Bhubaneswar Railway station is the 6th Railway station over Indian Railways to get the certificate after Chandigarh, Anand Vihar Terminal, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai Central and Vadodara Railway Stations.
