Bhubaneswar: Owners of the cattle found roaming at market places will now attract hefty fines to be imposed by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
As per the decision, the cattle straying on the roads will be caught and kept at Kanjia Huda (enclosure) and the owners will have to pay a fine of Rs 5000 to take the cattle back.
The BMC authorities will keep the cattle inside the enclosure for three days. If the owner does not turn up during this period, the cattle will be handed over to self-help groups (SHGs).
Increasing number of stray cattle has crowded the roads of the Capital city. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is responsible for keeping the stray cattle off the roads. Following this, the move has been opted to curb the menace.
