Bhubaneswar: After an argument ensued among the shopkeepers, the Unit-II Market Building in Bhubaneswar has been closed for an indefinite period from today.

According to reports, a verbal spat between market building association members and street vendors turned into an ugly situation as the formers opposed the latters’ misconduct with other traders on its premises.

All the shops and markets in the market building have been closed by the Central Market Association in protest. The market building will remain closed until the street vendors are vacated from the building premises, the association said.

Meanwhile, the entry gates of the market complex were locked by the association members.

On being informed, the officials of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and police personnel reached the Market Building to pacify the irate association members.

The decision on reopening the market complex will be taken following a meeting with the association members, police personnel and BMC authorities scheduled at 11 am tomorrow, reports added.
