Bhubaneswar: The Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar is set to enhance its connectivity with the addition of flight services to five new Indian cities starting in 2025.
This expansion was announced by the airport’s Director, Prasanna Pradhan, during a press conference today.
The new destinations include Indore, Dehradun, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Cochin. This move is part of a broader strategy to improve air travel options for residents and visitors, and to support the growing demand for air travel in the region.
IndiGo will introduce flights to Indore and Dehradun, while Air India Express will commence services to Lucknow, Jaipur, and Cochin. These new routes are expected to significantly boost the airport’s passenger traffic and provide more convenient travel options for the people of Odisha.
Director Pradhan highlighted the importance of this expansion, stating, “The addition of these new routes will not only enhance connectivity but also contribute to the economic growth of Bhubaneswar and the surrounding regions. We are committed to providing our passengers with the best possible travel experience.”
The airport’s expansion plans also include the construction of a new terminal to accommodate the increasing number of passengers. This new terminal is expected to be operational by the end of 2025, further enhancing the airport’s capacity and infrastructure.
