Cuttack: Due to the vision of an Odia, 23 years of tireless work and the dedicated efforts of the employees, the small industry that started with just Rs 400 capital has now become an industry worth more than Rs 400 crore, said the guests at the annual function of Bharat Masala and the 23rd Bharat Pratibha Awards ceremony held recently at the premises of Bharat Masala Company at Ramdaspur Barang in Cuttack.

State Rural Development Minister Pritiranjan Ghadei inaugurated the event, while School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash graced the event as Chief Guest. Besides, MLA Debi Prasad Mishra was the Guest of Honour and Cuttack Mayor Subhas Singh attended as one of the guests.

Dr Surendra Nath Panda, Founder & Chairman, Jay Bharat Spices Pvt. Ltd.,  presided over the event while Bharat Masala MD Sushant Kumar Panda was also present.

On the occasion, Tokyo Paralympics gold medal winner Pramod Bhagat was honoured with the Bharat Pratibha Award. Speaking at the event, Bhagat said he was overwhelmed to receive the honour from Bharat Masala, a company he has been hearing of since his childhood.

Similarly, Madhusmita Behera, representing India Team in women’s cricket, was awarded the ‘Krida Bharat’ Award.

Dr. Dashrath Das, an expert in the field of literature, was felicitated with ‘Katha Bharat’ Award, while IRS Manoranjan Panigrahi, received the ‘Seva Bharat’ Award for bringing glory to Odisha in the field of administrative services. Besides, senior cine artist & filmmaker-director Prashant Nanda was honoured with ‘Sanskruti Bharat’ award for his outstanding contribution to the world of Odia cinema.

Likewise, three Plus II students— Shubhashree Patnaik, Priyanka Sahu and Jiten Mahalik were honoured with the ‘Bidya Bharat’ award for their excellence in Commerce, Arts and Science streams. A cash prize was also given to the three meritorious students in cheques.

Chief Convenor Arun Kumar Nayak read out the annual report of the company, while Directors Shrimant Kumar Panda, Diganta Kumar Panda, Director Namita Panda, Nandita Panda, and General Manager of Production Department Nabakrushna Pradhan were present at the event.

Odia cine artists Pupinder, Lipsa Mishra, Sheetal, Deepak, Tamanna, Satyajit, Pami, Bishnumohan Kabi,  and Dance group ‘Kabir’ performed a dance program. The colourful event was coordinated by SPP Productions.

Notably, Bharat Masala, the dream brand innovated by Mr Surendra Nath Panda, has been a popular household brand identity not only in India but also abroad. Panda started his small spice grinding unit with small capital in 1999 and then proved his vision into possibility.
