Berhampur: Two unidentified miscreants allegedly attempted to murder a minor girl by slitting her throat at Sorala village under Golanthara police limits here on Thursday.

As per reports, the victim, a 5-year-old, was rescued from inside a closed room.

While the exact reason behind the murder attempt is still unclear, the girl is reportedly undergoing treatment at MKCG hospital. The health condition of the minor girl is stated to be critical, said sources.

One person suspected to be involved in the case has been detained by the Golanthara police. Further investigation in connection with the incident is underway, sources added.
