Bengal Extends COVID Restrictions Till June 15
Kolkata: West Bengal government has extended COVID-related restrictions on services and movement till June 15. The ongoing lockdown in the State was to end on May 30.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has sought the co-operation of the state’s residents and appealed them to follow all COVID protcols.
“Please don’t call this a lockdown. Covid numbers have come down. For economy’s sake there will be no total lockdown, ” the West Bengal CM said.
CM Mamata Banerjee, on April 30, had decided to impose an indefinite prohibition on several things, including shopping malls, markets, restaurants and bars, gyms, and swimming pools, with immediate effect.
Bengal today reported over 16,000 new COVID-19 cases and 153 deaths in the past 24 hours.
