Deogarh: Three beams of an under-construction flyover on National Highway-49 near Purunagarh in Deogarh district collapsed on Tuesday evening. No casualty was reported in the mishap.
According to reports, the beams of the under-construction flyover, which is being constructed along the NH-49, caved in 70 meters at around 6.30 pm.
On intimation, Deogarh District Collector Sudhansu Mohan Samal along with other senior officials reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
The bypass project is the part of a 78.3 Kilometre road stretch from Tileibani-Binjabahal being carried out by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) at an estimated cost of Rs 1160 Cr. The project started in 2018 and was about to meet completion by 2020.
Reportedly, the construction work is being executed by Oriental Structural Engineers Private Limited.
It is being alleged that the inferior quality of work in the construction of the flyover has led to the incident and a probe would unravel the truth behind the collapse of the beams, sources said.
