New Delhi/Raipur: The top leadership of outlawed Naxals has changed.
Reports said Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraj will be the new Secretary General of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist).
The Maoist leader Ganapati has stepped down from the ranks, reports said.
Close observers of Maoist activities in India said the development could lead to a surge in Maoist attacks in the country.
Sources said Ganapati relinquished the responsibility due to illness.
Basavaraj is a most wanted Naxal. He carries a reward of Rs 1.57 crore and is 63 years old.
