Bargarh Collector suspends six polling officials for dereliction of duty
Bargarh: At least six polling officials have been suspended by Bargarh Collector for dereliction of duty. The suspended officials include three presiding officers and three sectors officers.
The officials have been identified as Presiding officer of booth no. 68 Umashankar Panigrahi, Sector officer of booth no. 68 Manoranjan Panigrahi, Presiding officer of booth no. 235 Priyabrata Sahu, Sector officer of booth no. 235 Prasant Sethi, Presiding officer of booth no. 116 Ratam Sethi, and Sector officer of booth no. 116 Pradip Pradhan.
According to sources, the move by the District Collector came following an inquiry report on the allegations of dereliction of duty during the second phase of polls on Thursday. Voters of the respected booths had levelled ‘cross polling’ allegations during the polling.
Notably, polling was held in Bargarh yesterday in Phase II of elections in Odisha.
