Bar Council of India expresses concern over police-lawyer scuffle

New Delhi: The Bar Council of India has described the scuffle between Delhi Police and lawyers as sad and the darkest day in independent India.

Earlier on Wednesday, a Supreme Court advocate slapped a legal notice on Delhi Commissioner of Police Amulya Patnaik for “not taking action” against the Delhi Police personnel who protested in front of the police headquarters at ITO.

The agitation between lawyers and police began after an argument broke out between a policeman of Delhi Police’s 3rd Battalion and an advocate outside the inmates’ lock-up at Tis Hazari court on November 2.
