Banking services across state hit as employees’ unions observes 24-hr strike today

Bhubaneswar: Banking services were badly affected across the state after the employee observed a 24-hour strike on Tuesday protesting merger of government banks.

Thousands of bank employees, under the All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) and the Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI), are sitting on a 24-hour strike today to protest against a host of issues including merger of PSU banks.

Protesting against recent bank mergers, falling deposit rates and over job security in the banking sector, the employee unions have called the strike.

The All India Bank Officers’ Association (AIBOA) has also asked its members not to manage clerical jobs today and support the strike call.
