Dhaka: In light of the law and order situation in Bangladesh, the BSF has issued a high alert along the India-Bangladesh border. The BSF Director-General has arrived in Kolkata, according to a senior BSF officer.
Bangladeshi Army soldiers are patrolling the streets following the imposition of a new curfew in Dhaka on August 5th. The Dhaka authorities have enacted a new curfew starting at 06:00 p.m. local time on August 4th.
With increasing casualties and law enforcement’s struggle to control the unrest, the Bangladeshi government initially imposed a nationwide curfew on July 20th, 2024, and deployed military forces. This action came after violence erupted in Dhaka and other areas due to student-led protests that demanded reforms in the government’s job quota system.
