Bhubaneswar: Singing of Bande Utkala Janani will boost the morale of COVID-19 warriors engaged in the battle with the dreaded coronavirus.
Speaking on the occasion of mass recital of Bande Utkala Janani at Rajiv Bhavan here, Principal Secretary of Water Resources Surendra Kumar said it is remarkable that during lockdown doctors, police personnel, Anganwadi workers and social activists have been serving the people selflessly.
He said be it temporary health centres or at the railway stations dealing with migrant workers arriving at different regions of the state, the COVID warriors have shown exemplary courage and conviction to contain the dreaded coronavirus and serve the people.
Kumar said the chief minister Naveen Patnaik has urged all the Odias staying in the country and abroad to pay respect to the COVID warriors by singing Bande Utkala Janani. It is high time that the COVID warriors must be given due respect for their work and sacrifice, he added.
The Bande Utkala Janani was sung by the employees of Water Resources department, Special Relief Commissioner, OSDMA, Skill Development wing and Western Odisha Development Council.
Over 200 employees and officials of the above-mentioned departments have sung Bande Utkala Janani by adhering to social distancing and wearing masks to keep coronavirus at bay.
