Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Balipatana police station for demanding and accepting bribe.
The accused officer has been identified as Puspalata Behera.
According to reports, the officer had demanded Rs 5000 bribe reportedly to frame an accused under serious IPC charges in connection with a case filed in 2020. Following the complaint, officials of the anti-corruption wing laid a trap and arrested the officer red-handed while accepting the gratification.
A case has been registered against the accused officer and forwarded to court, said sources.
